Where Can I Sell Power Tools?
Tool Selling Guide
I'm guessing that if you're on my site,
then you're a lover of power tools. There's no doubt about it, they're a
great thing to own and can come in useful in many situations. Once you
have a decent tool kit, you'll be good to go for all types of jobs. But
if you're anything like me, then you can probably go a bit crazy
sometimes and feel the need to buy every tool under the sun. This can
cause you to have a bit of an excess of tools - some of which you
probably don't use very often and may just be sitting there gathering
dust.
My advice would be to have a bit of a
clean out of your garage, and sort your tools into two piles and ask
yourself "Have I used this tool in the last 6 months?" If the answer is
"No", then I suggest selling the tool, not only will you get some cash
back in your pocket, but you will also free up some storage space in
your garage or toolbox. Once you've done this, you may then ask yourself
"where can I sell power tools?". There's a few different options, I'm going to suggest the ones that I've used and think they work well.
Craigslist
- Craigslist can be great for a quick sale. I've put power tools on
there for sale, and had buyers come and collect the tools just a couple
of hours later. The only downside I've found with Craigslist is that you
will get a few people trying to knock your price down a bit. If your
price is negotiable, then that is fine, but if you prefer to stay to a
set price then make sure you make it clear in your advertisement that
the price is firm and not negotiable.
eBay
- Like Craigslist, eBay is very convenient in the sense that you can
set up an advert all within a few minutes and have people bidding on
your item in no time. You can either set your item as an auction, or
have a "buy it now" price where you can set a price that the customers
can pay and immediately win the item. You will have to remember that it
will cost to send your power tools, so be sure to have an idea of how
much that will cost before you set the price.
Yard Sale - Although it requires a bit more effort to set up and advertise than our other methods of selling your power tools, a yard sale can pay off in the fact that you may actually get rid of all of your items in one day, therefore saving you the hassle of selling everything separately. You may also meet some like-minded people and forge some great friendships.
Local
Classifieds - With the rise of the Internet, local classified ads have
become much less popular. But they can still be a great option for
people who don't feel comfortable buying something off of the internet,
or don't even have the internet.
